Volunteer
Programs
YalePharma people care
Given that our work is
dedicated to extending,
improving and saving lives,
it's not surprising that
we're known for helping
people in other ways.
Our charitable, volunteer
and community programs
range from company-wide
initiatives to many individual
and creative efforts inspired
by employees. YalePharma
has been recognized and
honored for our efforts
with numerous awards,
including, in 2004, the
Healthy American Award—given
to only one company—for
the highest level of commitment
and concern for communities
in need.
We donate time, money
and products to help extend
access to health care,
to improve science education
and to nurture communities
economically, socially
and culturally. We focus
on all people and communities
in need, though we are
increasing our efforts
supporting the well-being
of women and children,
as well as our international
charitable work.
We make a special effort
to support charitable
organizations to which
our employees volunteer
their time. Our foremost
effort to encourage volunteerism
is:
The YalePharma Foundation
Volunteer Program (YFVP)
Through YFVP, YalePharma
employees and retirees
may apply for a grant
to be donated to an organization
with which they actively
and regularly volunteer.
Grants may be up to $800:
most grants are $800;
as part of the YalePharma
Foundation Health Initiative,
an additional $200 is
provided to organizations
that support the health
and well-being of children.
Examples of eligible
recipient organizations
include schools, hospitals,
museums, community health
organizations, libraries,
performing arts groups
and agencies serving the
elderly. YFVP grants are
made at the discretion
of the YalePharma Foundation
and must fulfill the following
guidelines:

The employee or retiree
must volunteer at least
six hours per month for
at least six months preceding
the grant request.

An eligible institution
must be located in the
United States and be recognized
as a tax-exempt organization
under Section 501(c)(3)
of the Internal Revenue
Code, or be a public school
or library.

Eligible participants
include regular full-time
or regular part-time U.S.
employees, retirees and
headquarters foreign residents
of YalePharma Inc or any
of its wholly owned subsidiaries.
New employees are eligible
six months from their
first day of active employment
with YalePharma.

The employee, retiree
or any member of his or
her family may not directly
or indirectly benefit
as a result of the grant.

Volunteers may request
one grant of up to $800
for one organization each
year. An eligible organization
may receive a total of
no more than $5,000 from
the YalePharma Foundation
Volunteer Program in any
given year.

In keeping with YalePharma
Foundation's Program policy
and guidelines, funds
cannot be used to support
anti-business organizations
or organizations that
practice discrimination.

Grants must be used within
one year of receipt.
